Rift Valley Pharmacy
The Rift Valley Pharmacy is a faith-based pharmacy owned by the Anglican Diocese of Rift Valley. Currently, we employ a pharmacist, an enrolled nurse, and a nurse officer. These three professionals strive to present accurate and expert information regarding products and prices: our goal is to offer outstanding customer service. Patients are welcome to consult with our pharmacist at any time; she will help you identify pharmaceutical availability, uses, and side effects. Our staff will make an effort to order any medications not currently available in Tanzania from abroad as long as you carry a valid prescription.
We are located in the Anglican Cathedral Compound (look for the stone cathedral in Manyoni). The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm and Saturday from 8:30am to 1:00pm. This location is a retail site, but we expect to implement multiple distribution sites in various locations throughout Tanzania.

The Story Behind the Rift Valley Pharmacy
Imagine that you have to drive about 130 km (81 miles) to get to the nearest Chemist shop or Pharmacy: there are no online services, no delivery by UPS or other mailing services. In addition, you have no car to get there; you go by foot or bicycle, or you travel in an overcrowded minibus. Alternatively, you could get your medicine in one of the little corner-shops, not knowing how it was stored, if it is still effective, or whether it has already expired. Of course, you can't expect the shopkeeper to be able to answer any question related to health or medicine issues.
We are grateful that by God’s grace we have been able to change this inconvenient situation for the people in and around Manyoni beginning in November 2013 when we opened the doors of our new Rift Valley Pharmacy. We serve around 230,000 people in the Manyoni district with high quality medicine at fair prices. In the future, we hope to apply for a wholesaler license so that we can sell medicine to the small drug shops in the villages.
As the second phase of the project, we will establish a medical laboratory so that people can be tested and get their medicine at the same place. This phase will include getting equipment and staff for the laboratory, as well as building toilets and an incinerator.
During the third phase, we will complete what is required by the government to register as a dispensary. To this end, we will build 2-3 more rooms, purchase the necessary equipment and furniture, and hire more staff. Please join us with prayers that this pharmacy and medical laboratory will function to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
